sliding timber sash WINDOWS hand-made in the uk
At Timber Windows Sevenoaks, we offer a variety of traditional sliding sash windows that perfectly complement properties from the Edwardian, Victorian, or Georgian eras.
Traditional Sliding Sash Windows
As purists, we recommend traditional sliding sash windows crafted from timber. Our windows feature 28mm double glazed units with top-tier energy ratings, ensuring thermal efficiency and compliance with the latest building regulations. Made from high-quality hardwoods like Red Grandis or Accoya, our windows undergo a rigorous 5-stage process to prevent twisting and warping, common in older timber. They are factory-painted with three coats of micro-porous paint, offering protection from the elements with minimal maintenance, so you won’t need to repaint them for up to 10 years. With over 200 RAL colours plus stock options, these windows enhance the appearance of your home.
Traditional timber sash windows originally used lead weights and ropes within the frames to counterbalance the sash weight, allowing smooth operation. When we replace sash windows, we also replace the ropes and weights. Alternatively, if you prefer lower maintenance, we can install spiral balanced hinges, eliminating the need for ropes and weights and creating a slimmer profile with a modern opening system. You can also choose bespoke window furniture like Fitch fasteners or Board & Clasp fasteners.
Heritage Sash Windows
For period properties with existing timber windows, you might prefer heritage sash windows to maintain the property’s character. These windows offer the benefits of traditional sash windows but are tailored for listed buildings or conservation areas. Heritage sash windows are a superior alternative to secondary glazing, sympathetically replicating original designs and accommodating high-performance, slimline sealed units to meet local Conservation Officer requirements. We also offer assistance with your planning application for a nominal fee.
